RES SUBMITS APPLICATION FOR SOLWAYBANK WIND FARM

RES has today submitted a planning application to Dumfries and Galloway Council for Solwaybank Wind Farm located south of the B7068 between Langholm and Lockerbie. The wind farm has an approximate capacity of 30MW and, if approved, is likely to generate electricity equivalent to the average demand of more than 17,000 households - or approximately 25% of the households in Dumfries and Galloway.

DOGS TRUST SHREWSBURY CENTRE ACHIEVES BREEAM OUTSTANDING RATING THROUGH PARTNERSHIP WITH INBUILT

Inbuilt, the RES Group company offering renewable energy and buildings sustainability advice to public and private sector organisations, has confirmed the completion of a state of the art re-homing centre for the Dogs Trust, based at Shrewsbury and a design stage BREEAM (Building Research Establishment's Environmental Assessment Method) 'Outstanding' Rating for the centre.

RES SUBMITS PLANNING APPLICATION FOR PENMANSHIEL WIND FARM

RES has submitted a planning application for Penmanshiel Wind Farm, near Grantshouse in the Scottish Borders. The proposal is for 15 turbines, each with a maximum height to the tip of blade of 100m. The planning application along with supporting documents including an Environmental Statement (ES), Non- Technical Summary (NTS) and Pre-Application Consultation (PAC) Report has been submitted to Scottish Borders Council. The wind farm has an approximate capacity of 30MW and, if approved, the wind farm is likely to generate electricity equivalent to the average demand of more than 17,000 households - or approximately 30% of the households in the Scottish Borders.

WWF: CLEAN ENERGY FUTURE ‘WITHIN OUR GRASP’

Ambitious scenarios show renewables could meet between 60-90% of UK electricity demand by 2030
A new report by WWF has said that renewable sources of energy could meet between 60-90% of the UK's electricity demand by 2030, and recommends that the government sets its target at no less than 60% for renewable energy generation to provide certainty for investors.

RES TO CONSIDER ITS OPTIONS FOLLOWING REFUSAL OF GLENCHAMBER WIND FARM

RES has expressed its disappointment at today's decision by Dumfries and Galloway's Planning Applications Committee to refuse planning permission for Glenchamber Wind Farm.  The 11 turbine project located between New Luce, Kirkcowan and Glenluce could generate electricity equivalent to the average demand of more than 14,000 households - or approximately 20% of the households in Dumfries and Galloway.

The first wind turbine components arrived today at RES's Kelburn Wind Farm, in North Ayrshire. The first consignment of towers arrived by ship into Ayr Harbour and their delivery to site marks another major milestone for the 28MW project, which will be owned and operated by RES.

PUBLIC EXHIBITIONS FOR BARCLOY HILL WIND FARM

RES has announced plans for a five turbine wind farm between Castle Douglas and Kirkcudbright, in Dumfries and Galloway. At 12.5 MW, the proposed Barcloy Hill Wind Farm would provide enough clean, green electricity equivalent to the average demand of over 7,000 homes - or approximately 10% of the households in Dumfries and Galloway.

WIND TURBINES START ARRIVING AT HILL OF TOWIE WIND FARM

Turbines arrived at Aberdeen Harbour's Commercial Quay following a £4 million refurbishment
The first wind turbine components will arrive today at RES's Hill of Towie Wind Farm, near Keith in Moray. The first consignment of blades arrived by ship last week into Aberdeen Harbour's Commercial Quay, which has recently been the subject of a £4 million refurbishment. Their delivery to site marks another major milestone for the 48MW project, which is RES's largest wind farm in the UK to date.

PUBLIC EXHIBITIONS FOR SOLWAYBANK WIND FARM

Public exhibitions will take place this week for RES's Solwaybank Wind Farm, in Dumfries and Galloway.  The 15 turbine project would provide enough clean, green electricity equivalent to the average demand of over 17,000 homes. Public consultation exhibitions about the project will be held at Waterbeck Village Hall 3pm - 8pm on Thursday 30 June, Eaglesfield Village Hall 10am - 1pm on Friday 1July, and Lockerbie Town Hall 11am - 4pm on Saturday 2 July. RES has welcomed a Planning Reporter's decision today to consent the 12 turbine Meikle Carewe Wind Farm, near Stonehaven. The announcement overturns a previous decision by Aberdeenshire Council, which refused planning consent for the wind farm in April 2010.

EWEA 2010 STATISTICS: OFFSHORE & EASTERN EUROPE NEW GROWTH DRIVERS FOR WIND POWER IN EUROPE

STUDY REVEALS 91 PER CENT RISE IN UK WIND ENERGY EMPLOYMENT

RenewableUK, the country's leading voice for the renewable energy industry, has today published the most comprehensive ever employment figures for the wind energy industry, showing a 91 per cent increase in full-time employment in the sector between 2007/8 and 2009/10. The growth in employment stands in contrast to the overall UK employment level, which has shrunk during the same period by 3.4 per cent.

FINAL DETAILS OF NORTH BLYTH BIOMASS PROJECT PROPOSAL TO GO ON SHOW

As part of the consultation process for the proposed North Blyth Biomass Power Station, renewable energy developer RES will be holding a second series of public exhibitions in the area during the last week of January. The exhibitions will unveil the final design for the power plant along with the results of RES's environmental and technical studies prior to submitting the planning application in the Spring.

LORRY ‘PRACTICE RUN’ TO HELP PLAN FOR WIND FARM CONSTRUCTION

An empty delivery vehicle, capable of carrying the larger components of wind turbines, will make its way from Hull docks towards Roos village on Monday January 10th. The lorry will be used to test the proposed delivery route, ahead of the construction of Roos wind farm, which is due to begin in 2012.
